This 4×4 Matrix Membrane Keypad provides an easy interface for embedded systems such as an Arduino. The 4×4 keypad has a total of 16 buttons in Matrix form. A 4x4 matrix keypad requires eight Input / Output ports for interfacing is used as an example. Rows are connected to Peripheral Input / Output (PIO) pins configured as output. This 16-button keypad provides a useful human interface component for microcontroller projects. It is made up of a thin, flexible membrane material with an adhesive backing.
