Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) Module is a component that is sensitive to light. When light falls upon it then the resistance changes. It is used to detect the presence of light therby measuring the intensity of light. Values of the resistance of the LDR may change rapidly as the light intensity increases and decreases. With such a wide variation in resistance, LDRs are easy to use and there are many circuits available around it. The output of the module goes high in the presence of light and it becomes low in the absence of light. The sensitivity of light detection can be adjusted using the provided potentiometer.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Operating Voltage: 3.3V to 5V DC
  • Operating Current: 15mA
  • LEDs indicating output and power
  • LM393 comparator based design for cleanly latched outputs
  • Output Digital - 0V to 5V, Adjustable trigger level using the preset
  • Output Analog - 0V to 5V based on light falling on the LDR

Working:

  • Light detecting resistor(LDR) module, sensitive to environmental light intensity, is generally used to detect the ambient light & its intensity
  • BAsed on the ambient light conditions or light intensity falling on the LDR, the voltage measured across it reaches the set threshold, Digital Ouput  is set to high, conversely when the external ambient light intensity falls and the voltage reading goes below the set threshold, module's Digital 0utput goes low
  • Digital output is directly connected to the micro controller (MCU), detects high or low states, thereby detecting presence or absence of ambient ligh
  • Analog output module can be used to measure the light intensity accurately

Pin configuration :

• Input Voltage: DC 3.3V to 5V
• Output: Analog and Digital
• Sensitivity adjustable
